Why this spelling
This romanisation is not the spelling copied letter by letter. It is built from the National Institute of Korean Language’s Revised Romanization, which writes what the word sounds like once the sounds next to each other have changed it.

Korean fares are calculated by distance. The system can’t figure out what you owe until it knows where you got off, so it makes you tell it — by tapping the card a second time on your way out. Seoul’s own guidance states it flat, no conditions: tap the card every time you board and every time you get off.
