Why this spelling
This romanisation is not the spelling copied letter by letter. It is built from the National Institute of Korean Language’s Revised Romanization, which writes what the word sounds like once the sounds next to each other have changed it.
When you would say it
Say it to the staff on your way out. This is the tip.
Tipping: the whole answer
You don’t leave a tip. Not in restaurants, not in cafés, not in taxis, not for hotel housekeeping, not for a haircut. Seoul’s own official visitor guide says it flat out: tipping isn’t customary in Korea — though it adds that some people may accept one and some may refuse.
