Why this spelling

This romanisation is not the spelling copied letter by letter. It is built from the National Institute of Korean Language’s Revised Romanization, which writes what the word sounds like once the sounds next to each other have changed it.

When you would say it

For a guesthouse or a rented room. If the floor is cold in winter, say so instead of assuming it’s meant to be that way.

Winter: wind, dry air, and a hot floor

Winter here is dry, and the wind is the part that does the damage. A coat that was enough somewhere else can feel thin on an open street or a bridge. What helps isn’t one enormous coat but several thinner ones, because of what happens the moment you step inside.
